Stay Ready

I saw a short clip yesterday of a preacher saying when a woman’s pregnant, before she has even seen the baby, she starts purchasing all the things she’ll need for the baby’s arrival. She begins to prepare, knowing that the baby is on the way.

Matthew 21:22 says that if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. So, how are you preparing for it? What steps are you taking to meet it when it’s ready? What is required, and what are you doing about it?

I’m asking myself the same questions because often we want to start getting things ready only after we see the expectation physically. But, as the saying goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. It’s good to do so; I’ve learned that when you plan for certain things, you’re able to navigate the unexpected occurrences smoother. There’s less on your plate to deal with. Anyway, I’m sincerely seeking to change how I interact with life and start applying some of these cheat codes. They’re small, but I think they alleviate a lot of stress. I want to lock into a different frequency of life, if you will.

Speaking of life cheat codes, I saw another clip of Paris Jackson saying don’t do drugs because she destroyed her septum. It made me think about how she isn’t the first person to say this, and won’t be the last, and even with evidence, you’ll still have people who may look up to her, or even here what she’s saying and not heed her words. Some people don’t care about the truth; and it shows because she quickly followed with “I don’t want to tell you what to do…do what you want...” But I’m thinking, “no, we really can’t tell people to do what they want. What they want may not be right, and it has consequences that many can’t recover from.” Anyway, what she said made me realize that there’s good, sound advice that we ought to listen to.  There are people who have passed through the same waters we’re passing through. We should be wise and take heed. We should be wise, and prepare ourselves, guarding ourselves and heeding sound advice.

Anyway, I went off on a bit of a tangent, but the point is: prepare for what you’re expecting, listen to sound advice, and above all else, trust God. Trust God in the preparing, look for God in the advice, and by the leading of His Spirit, follow accordingly.
