Tell
me who you are. Really, tell me who you are; not what you do, where you are
from, what nation you hail from, what language you speak, what your favourite
colour is, your favourite music or brand of clothing. Tell me who you are when
you stand naked in your room with your body in full view of you. Can you show
me something that is extraordinary, something that time will not erode? Can you
dig deep and hold it delicately in your hands and show me this treasure? Can
you show me who you are without disguising your true self? Do you know this
nature? Have you met it? Are you well acquainted, can you introduce me? Do you
recognize it or are you still searching?
Are you still in the process of uncovering? Do you know that you are
working to return to who you are as opposed to discovering who you are? Do you
see that in returning to your true self you are simultaneously discovering
yourself? The self is the Spirit in you, bursting in multi-colour, in
innumerable hues and shades. It goes through different phases, explores,
transforms, adorns; it casts off many things yet still remains itself. It is
that core that I want you to comprehend, that core that remains unchanged, come
what may.
We
understand the world based on what we think is real, on what we see with our
eyes, what we feel, what we touch, what we smell and hear and taste. But perhaps we ought to think of it as the
Matrix. Of the world that we see, and the world that is real. Some spend all of their lives in the matrix,
occasionally catching glimpses of the real, but unable to fully comprehend.
Some are violently awakened to what is real after experiencing a catastrophe or
a threat to their lives. Our Spirits are
the same. We are working to unplug, to return to who we are, to be Neo. We are
working to free our minds so that we are able to live and create without
boundaries; and when the day that troubles rain on us, we won’t surrender in
defeat, but we’ll stretch forth our hands and suspend them in mid-air. That is
who we are. Capable of extraordinary things. Possessing power to do all things,
commanding our environment, exercising full dominion. That is who you are. Do
you know this person? Are you still searching?
You
are not the mistakes you make. You are not the mistake that another person
made. You are a Spirit housed in a body, made manifest by God through the
channel and circumstances and events that were beyond your control. Those
circumstances and events are not you. God was showing off, reminding all of us
that He can bring light out of darkness, that there is no evil, or negative
situation that impedes Him from fashioning the rarest of all things: You. And you are that Spirit, capable of creating
anything that you desire out every circumstance. You have forgotten who you
are, and so you struggle, and steal, and kill and destroy. But you are the
Spirit of God that you must return to, discover, embrace and unleash.
